When to Renew
MEYDAN sends renewal notices 60 days before license expiry. Renewal application should be initiated at least 30 days before expiry to allow for document collection and any activity updates.
Late Fee Structure
- Days 1-30 late: AED 500/month penalty ($136/month)
- Days 31-90 late: AED 1,000/month + license suspended (cannot conduct business)
- Day 91+: License cancelled. Reinstatement requires fresh application + all back fees + AED 5,000 penalty ($1,360)
Consequence of suspension: your establishment card and all associated visas become invalid. Emirates ID cards do not automatically cancel, but immigration status is at risk.
Adding or Removing Activities at Renewal
Renewal is the natural point to update your license. Adding activities: AED 1,000 per activity within same category, AED 4,000 for cross-category. Removing activities: free but reduces flexibility. Most operators keep unused activities as future optionality.
Cost Optimization Tips
- Multi-year renewal discount: MEYDAN offers ~10% discount for 3-year prepayment.
- Audit fee: shop 3 auditors; prices vary $600-1,500 for identical scope.
- Corporate tax: file yourself if simple; only engage a tax consultant if you have cross-border complexity.
